COMMUNITY

Vie has been volunteering for most of her life. She started as a teenager and continues to this day. She has volunteered doing support work in a school for children and young people with physical disabilities; taking children and young people with disabilities to theme parks; de-fleaing and de-ticking stray dogs in Sri Lanka; support at Pride events; support work at community events; fundraising for numerous national and local charities; serving on committees for communities.

She has been an Ambassador for the charity DEBRA, the charity that supports people that live with the rare skin disability, Epidermolysis Bullosa, the disability that Vie was born with, for many years.

She was also the Director of a Community Interest Company for six years.

Knowing that, it will come as no surprise that part of VIP Empowerment is the community support.

Through her work in corporates, with wraparound care providers, and her speaking, the work she does in schools and community groups is subsidised, with the aim that as many people as possible can work with Vie.

Vie has been running confidence boosting workshops in schools for six years, working with primary and secondary schools. She also does book readings of her children’s books in schools and libraries.

She also runs confidence boosting workshops for Brownies, Guides, the WI, and other local community organisations.
